Enough whining and onto the fun stuff! Small Town Quilting Blues is available on-line and the Kindle version should be posted at the end of the week. Several of you already know the book is out, and I will do a larger marketing push the first week of May.
One of the new things in the book is that having now written Small Town Lies and Small Town Haven, it’s becoming a little confusing with keeping some of the characters straight. This is particularly true with those who have the same last names. In response to a couple of requests, I added a section, “Welcome to Wallington”, in the back that lists the recurring and some of the new characters.
As an author, mapping out the individuals has been an interesting process for me in keeping in mind that someone I create in a minor role in one book is likely to play a greater role later in the series. In some cases I haven’t made that decision yet and therefore I set it up to where I can go in one direction or another depending on what story lines I decide to pursue. I am sometimes asked how I come up with the ideas for a particular “path” and in the case of the Small Town series, I have a different approach than with my scuba-themed novels. Those are geared toward intrigue and action whereas the “cozies” are more character-driven. Much of what occurs in the fictional town of Wallington impacts people and is very much intertwined with friendships and other relationships. This does cause a slower “pace” than with the other novels and that isn’t something that everyone cares for. Anyway, welcome back to Wallington and getting caught up with what has been going on with Helen and her friends.
