You might wonder why I have a photo of a simple piece of baseboard here, but it is an important piece of baseboard. It was among the final steps to declaring the main phase of the remodel to be completed. Yes, the destruction that began on February 24th, and that’s not counting the days prior of packing and sending stuff to storage, was finished yesterday. That took care of the “punch list” (those small things that you notice when ready to close out a job) and adding the rest of the electrical upgrades to the garage.

As I explained in an earlier post, we do have other tasks to go, but those are items that we will take care of or that don’t affect our overall ability to function in the house. It has been an interesting experience and nothing terribly unusual to deal with. Definite frustration at times, but that was to be expected. One of the things that everyone remarks upon, as do we, is that despite the fact that we did not add one single square inch of floor space (did not have that option due to code restrictions), the front room and kitchen seem larger. We think it is a combination of the new paint colors and the reconfiguration that we did in the kitchen. In any case, we will finish up with the items left on our to-do list and have the “unveiling party” some time in June.
