Paint is Rolling Along and Other…..

Main Color of Walls is Kansas Wheat

Since I have been complaining about delays, I should be fair when things go smoothly. The painters showed up when they said they would and have been ripping through the task. The photo doesn’t do it justice, but this is the primary lighter color in the front room. The guys are hard workers and are being really careful with everything. Not one drop of paint on the floors.

The island base was installed yesterday and the granite guy promised to come measure tomorrow; the step that will allow him to proceed with cutting the slabs. Then it’s another week before he will install and then the cabinet guy will come to finish the uppers. His claim, and we’re pretty sure that he’s correct about this, is that the granite guys get particles flying through the air when they install and they can connect with the upper cabinets while moving the countertops around. That, in turn, can mar the upper cabinets. It isn’t that they do it on purpose, more that between final fitting and shimming, it happens as a matter of course. What all of that means, is we’re about two weeks out. The doors and other trim will be taken care of Mon or Tues, but the vent hood, sink, faucet, and dishwasher can’t be completed until the countertops and upper cabinets are in. Dishwasher? Yes, the new appliances were delivered yesterday, but they are deserving of their own post.
