Success With the Umbrella Table…….

Okay, as a quick reminder, we are almost finished with the re-vamp of the backyard. No major changes from a structural perspective, but a fair amount of money spent to do things truly right this time. Part of the process was to go with items genuinely created for outdoors and not recycle other items for outdoor use as we did with some of our original choices. The exception, however, was this one large urn that we truly liked, the umbrella that came from our old table, but was still in good shape, and lo-and-behold, the top to the old fire pit that looked as if it would fit perfectly to serve as a tabletop for the urn. There were two major issues – one, the large piece broken out of the urn when dismantling the old table. Second, was getting the top re-painted and the hole enlarged to fit the umbrella. Hubby was able to do both and we allowed the glue used to repair the urn to cure for a couple of days before setting it upright. The photo at the top gives the overall view and the one at the bottom shows some of the detail of the urn to emphasize why we like it so much.

There are still a couple of pieces for the fountain area that I haven’t located yet, but I think I know where to get them down in Key Largo/Islamorada. I haven’t made the third trip down with enough time to poke around the way I want to. The other decision was to try orchids again. I spoke at length with one gentleman about the spot we have and took his recommendation for two different varieties. One is white and the other pink. Once I see if they are going to survive, I’ll do photos.
