I will touch base again this week with the woman who is assisting us with travel plans for Australia and we have about decided to rent pieces of dive gear that we normally carry with us. The reason for this is that the four days of diving will be on the front end of the trip and we think that hauling the bulky items around for the rest of the time is more bother than we want to mess with. If we cut back on those items, then we might also be able to pack only one bag, plus carry-on for each of us. That seems rather light, but what it comes down to is that if we are moving from place to place as we are, then so what if we wear the same clothes repeatedly? The clothing that we have for travel are of the type of fabric that rinses and dries well precisely for these kinds of situations. I do need to double-check about electrical current though and find our transformers. Once upon a time we had a travel set that seems to have been shuffled off somewhere.
The travel agent is of course urging us to sign up for multiple special excursions and this is where I am drawing the line. We have no idea how we are going to be feeling as we travel and we have the big three items already planned; diving the Great Barrier Reef, going to Ayers Rock, and taking a hot air balloon ride in the wine country. We do not wish to lock into other activities because we want to be able to decide what to do each day rather than be locked into something that we may not feel up to after the previous day’s adventures. Strolling back streets is something that we almost always enjoy when we go to new places and we see no reason to do this differently.
