Okay, yesterday was planned as “Girl Day”, and I wasn’t sure what exactly was on the schedule. We had a chatty breakfast of bagels – okay, Hubby had leftover pizza – and we set out. There was the first home decor/gift shop and a comment about very pregnant daughter joining us later at a place for foot massages. That was to be a new experience. Three shops later, to include Dillards where no new tops or outfits were discovered, we entered the massage place where we took up three of the four seats. Definitely an interesting experience as it was 30 minutes on each leg. It’s really more a foot and calf massage; all three young men working in pretty much the same pattern.
We come out and a lady steps from in front of the next door nail salon and pointed toward my feet. At first I thought she meant I hadn’t secured the strap of my sandal. “You have a flat tire,” she said. Wow, like seriously flat; not low. The odd thing was, we had no warning. Except, my friend was scheduled to go in Wed to get the vehicle serviced and the tires replaced. Anyway, by fortunate, that was the first place we’d been all day where there was an open parking spot to our right. We stood there as friend pondered if she had paid the AAA bill. She did have a spare and daughter called her husband to come to the rescue. A nice gentleman did come over to ask if we had a spare. I got to meet the son-in-law and two oldest boys who came with him to “help”. It was fun to watch him instruct them as instead of putting on the spare, he hooked up one of the tire inflaters his wife had forgotten was in her car. It was slow and there was a Chevron very close. We got the tire up enough to go over and finish it. The boys thought this was interesting to see the difference. Okay, since her Lexus was what we would be using for the rest of the weekend, she made her way to the tire store on the way home. Turns out the tire could not be repaired and she was planning to get new tires on Wednesday anyway. Despite being short-staffed, they took care of her and we had an interesting talk with the manager who was also a musician.
We made it back on the new tires to the tense football game where the guys were not happy. Georgia Tech did mange to get the win in the closing minutes. That made dinner after at their favorite Mexican restaurant more pleasant. We of course have plenty of Mexican restaurants in Homestead, and this was right up there with those; a family place and fun decor.
