Since my birthday was on a Wednesday this year (as in yesterday) and Wed is my normal lunch with a couple of friends, then Happy Hour with other friends, I stuck to that. Today was the day for Hubby and I because he actually had a couple of days off. We originally intended to get out in the water and the boat situation didn’t work out.

So, it was to be a trip to Olive Morada to stock up, then to the Ocean Exploration Center because he hasn’t seen it and lunch at Key Largo Fisheries with perhaps bringing seafood home. The only glitch was I forgot the Exploration Center was closed on Thursdays. Ah well. Flavored olive oils (orange, Persian lime, cilantro and roasted onion) are now on-hand as are basic balsamic vinegar, plus a Key lime one.

Lobster season started last month and we haven’t had stone crabs yet this year. Hubby had a grilled cobia sandwich, I did the lobster, and for bringing home, the stone crabs will be first course tonight. Since it has been a very long time for him to grill whole fish and the young man cleaned the two snappers up nicely for us, that will be the main course. And yes, we did have cake last night and will finish it tonight. I should say “cakes” because Hubby got some carrot cake and chocolate for me yesterday. Publix bakeries do very well and sell cakes in large and small sizes and also sell big chunks of some of them packaged separately.

I will go downstairs shortly and put a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc into the fridge to get extra cold. That will go well with our “seafood” day.
